Shimane Prefecture enjoys temperate weather in the spring, summer and fall. In comparison with other locations on the Sea of Japan, Shimane is comparatively warm and has less snowfall than the northern regions. The western part of the prefecture enjoys a similar climate to that of the Inland Sea side of Honshu.
